Homan Heads Back to the Hill as Thune Sees DHS Deal Potential

Senators plan to meet again Friday with border czar Tom Homan on funding the Department of Homeland Security as pressure ramps up on lawmakers to end the agency’s shutdown.

A bipartisan group of senators met with Homan Thursday and plans to meet again Friday after Democrats identified some additional demands, Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) said. The shutdown has dragged on for more than a month as the two sides are locked in a disagreement over immigration enforcement changes.
