Department of Homeland Security civil rights and oversight offices that were shuttered in March will be rebuilt with teams a fraction of their original size.
The Trump administration outlined the plans Thursday in a filing to the US District Court for the District of Columbia, where several immigrants’ rights groups are challenging the dismantling of the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, the Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman, and the Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman.
