The Department of Homeland Security has named Tony Pham, a veteran of President Donald Trump’s first term, to oversee the agency’s border and immigration policy, a key role as the administration makes enforcement a priority.
Pham’s role as assistant secretary for border and immigration policy was unveiled Thursday on the agency’s website. He was US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s principal legal adviser and then acting director in 2020. As DHS’s assistant secretary for border and immigration, he’ll coordinate policies across the department, which has taken an all-hands-on-deck approach throughout agencies since Trump took office last month.
