The House turns its attention this week toward looser permitting requirements for energy and rural broadband projects.
The House Rules Committee plans to meet April 20 to take up five measures under a rule, including bills to expedite rural broadband and geothermal energy projects, repeal federal building energy efficiency rules, and overhaul the Endangered Species Act. Simple majorities would be needed for passage.
Lawmakers are also set to consider 11 measures under suspension of the rules, which requires a two-thirds majority for passage. The list includes extensions of federal telehealth grants and a broadband network for first responders.
