The House is set to vote this week on a spending package that would end a brief partial government shutdown.
The measure would provide full-year funding for departments and programs in five fiscal 2026 appropriations bills that saw their funding lapse Jan. 31, and extend Homeland Security Department funding through Feb. 13. The extension would give lawmakers time to negotiate changes to federal immigration operations sought by Democrats, who opposed a bill to fund DHS for the whole year without overhauls.
