House Backs $157 Billion Military Construction-VA Spending Bill

The US House Friday threw its support behind $157 billion in discretionary spending for military construction projects and the Department of Veterans Affairs as leaders rush to make headway with government funding.

The Military Construction-VA bill is the least controversial measure to negotiate and the first of 12 annual spending bills that House Republicans aim to finish writing by the end of June. The vote was 400-15.

The bill includes $19.2 billion for military construction and family housing for fiscal 2027, $537 million below enacted fiscal 2026 levels and $9.4 billion below President Donald Trump’s budget request.
