The conservative Republican Study Committee rolled out a proposal for $1.6 trillion in spending and tax cuts Tuesday with the help of a new AI tool.
The “Byrd Bot,” as House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) dubbed it, was developed by the RSC to sift through documents and generate legislation compliant with the Senate’s Byrd Rule. The rule applies to bills passed using reconciliation, which requires a simple Senate majority rather than a 60-vote threshold to pass. Provisions must must have a budgetary impact.
