House Democrats are expanding their target list of congressional districts, underscoring their growing confidence they can stretch the 2026 election map into areas President Donald Trump carried by low-double-digit margins.
The changes the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced Wednesday come one week after Republicans won a Tennessee special election by just 9 percentage points in a ruby-red district that favored Trump by 22 points, continuing a string of Democratic overperformances in elections held since Trump returned to the White House. Democrats on Tuesday also won elections for Miami mayor and in a pro-Trump state House district in Georgia.
