House Democrats Launch AI Panel to Craft Legislative Agenda

House Democrats Tuesday announced a new commission on artificial intelligence that seeks to craft the party’s policy approach to the burgeoning technology.

“It is important that American companies continue to thrive in” AI, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said in a statement. “At the same time, Congress must consider what policies are needed to prevent bad actors from exploiting this transformative technology and inflicting harm upon the American people.”

Reps. Ted Lieu (Calif.), Josh Gottheimer (N.J.), and Valerie Foushee (N.C.) will co-chair the commission on “AI and the innovation economy,” according to a press release. The group aims to ...
