House GOP Budget Chief Running for Re-election After Exit Talks

House Budget Committee Chair Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) is planning to run for re-election after what he says is a “mutual” decision to forego the chancellorship at the Texas Tech University System.

Arrington, who is continuing to discuss plans with his family, told Bloomberg Government he informed Speaker Mike Johnson and Leader Steve Scalise about his plans to run again in his safe GOP district earlier this month. Arrington’s interest in leading his alma mater sparked speculation about the lawmaker’s political future.

Arrington added he wants to stay on as Budget Chair for President Donald Trump’s final two years in office. ...
