House lawmakers will spend another week in their districts after Speaker
The House was originally slated to be in session Monday through Thursday next week, but now the chamber will be out. Lawmakers have been told to remain on a 48-hour notice to return to Washington, if a deal to end the shutdown does materialize.
House members have not voted since Sept. 19, meaning the chamber hasn’t been in session since before the government shutdown began on Oct. 1.
