House GOP Getting Record Earmarks as Trump Touts Spending Cuts

House Republicans are embracing earmarks at record levels even as they enthusiastically back President Donald Trump’s efforts to slash federal personnel and downsize many agencies.

A record-setting 174 out of 219 House Republicans stand to bring home more than $4.8 billion in earmarked funds in their chamber’s fiscal 2026 appropriations bills, according to an exclusive Bloomberg Government analysis of the proposed spending.
