Transportation and housing programs would face cuts under a draft fiscal 2026 spending bill released by House GOP appropriators on Sunday that seeks to slash or redirect $9.4 billion through program eliminations and rescissions.
House Republicans proposed providing $89.9 billion in discretionary funding in the Transportation-HUD spending bill, which is a 4.7% decrease from the fiscal 2025 level, according to a GOP summary. The Transportation Department’s overall discretionary funding would decrease by about $3.2 billion under the proposal, but spending for aviation would be boosted following recent air safety concerns.
