House GOP Propose GAO Cut in Legislative Branch Funding Bill (1)

House Republicans released their fiscal 2027 Legislative Branch funding bill Wednesday morning that includes cuts to the nonpartisan watchdog over agencies.

The $7.3 billion bill is $42.5 million above the fiscal 2026 enacted level and more than $1.2 billion below President Donald Trump’s budget request, according to a summary released by House Republicans.

The bill includes cuts to the Government Accountability Office, a nonpartisan watchdog that has often clashed with Trump’s Office of Management and Budget. The office would receive $611.9 million under the measure, $200 million below the fiscal 2026 level and $248 million ...
