House Republicans are proposing $831.5 billion for the Pentagon in the the year starting Oct. 1, seeking to boost spending for next-generation fighter aircraft and President Donald Trump’s plans for a Golden Dome missile defense shield.
The proposal would essentially leave defense spending flat, or similar to this fiscal year’s, according to a House GOP fact sheet. Still, Democrats decried what they say is a 1% cut across every program outside of intelligence activities.
