House Lawmakers Hope Latest Housing Bid Will Satisfy Senators (1)

House lawmakers are optimistic that senators will accept their latest offer on bipartisan legislation to address housing affordability.

House members, seeking to break a months-long battle over competing bills (H.R. 6644), released a new version that alters institutional investor restrictions opposed by industry. It also adds back some provisions from the original House bill while removing four sections from the Senate’s original ROAD to Housing Act.

Both parties have been eager to get an affordable housing bill passed before the midterms to show voters they’re addressing the high cost of living.
