House Axes Senate Budget Vote, Going Back to the Drawing Board

House Republicans are back at the drawing board after axing a vote on the Senate’s budget last night, as intense conservative opposition forces Speaker Mike Johnson to consider potential changes to the framework.

More than a dozen GOP holdouts huddled with Johnson (R-La.) last night for over an hour. After struggling to convince them to budge, leaders ultimately decided to postpone the vote while they search for an off-ramp to set the stage for President Donald Trump’s agenda.
