House Looks to Clinch FISA Deal Tomorrow, Majority Leader Says

The House is looking to move quickly to extend a US spy powers tool before it expires in less than 10 days, with Republican leadership hoping to get a bill filed as early as Thursday.

Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) said Wednesday that lawmakers are working toward a “final resolution” on extending Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and, if a deal can be worked out between leadership and conservative holdouts, they would file the bill tomorrow. That timing would likely set up a vote early next week, ahead of the law’s April 30 expiration.
