House appropriators scrapped a Justice Department funding bill vote set for Thursday, the latest move by Republicans that would sidestep a potential fight over releasing federal documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein.
The House Appropriations Committee announced Wednesday evening it would not hold the markup of the the fiscal 2026 Commerce-Justice-Science spending bill before September. The markup had been scheduled for Thursday.
The move comes as the House leaves a day early Wednesday for a nearly six-week summer recess to avoid a broader floor fight over information surrounding Epstein, the convicted sex trafficker.
