House Passes Bill to Allow Supersonic Flights Over US Mainland

The House on Tuesday approved by voice vote a bill to legalize supersonic flights over the continental US despite concerns about their fuel consumption, climate effects, and costs.

President Donald Trump called for the resumption of supersonic commercial service over the continental US in a June 2025 executive order, but they are unlikely to take flight for at least a few years. Enactment of the proposal (H.R. 3410), which has yet to move in the Senate, could unleash a wave of investment into the technology.
