House Republicans released text of a bill on Thursday to fund military construction and the Department of Veterans Affairs as they start work on their fiscal 2027 spending bills.
The $157 billion Military-Construction-VA bill is almost a $4 billion increase from fiscal 2026 levels, according to a summary released by House Republican appropriators. It’s one of the first two bills released by the Appropriations Committee, along with funding for Financial Services programs, as it pursues an aggressive timeline for completing its work on next year’s spending bills before funding expires at the end of September.
