House Republicans Create New Committee to Investigate Jan. 6

The House voted on party lines Wednesday to authorize a new panel to investigate the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riots as congressional Republicans continue to seek to shift the blame for the attacks away from President Donald Trump.

The new select subcommittee on the House Judiciary Committee will be chaired by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), who last Congress helmed a Jan. 6 investigation as chairman of House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight.
