House Republicans Count on Epstein Files’ Release to Calm Uproar

House Republicans are hoping that soon-to-be-released documents related to disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein will ease GOP infighting before the House returns in two weeks.

The Justice Department will begin turning over documents from the federal investigation into Epstein this Friday after House Oversight subcommittee members voted to subpoena the records, Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) announced earlier this week. But it’s far from certain that the batch released will appease hardline Republicans’ appetite for full disclosure as conservative voters question President Donald Trump’s suggestion that the case is settled. Epstein died in federal custody in 2019.
