Multiple House Republicans are questioning Speaker Mike Johnson’s decision to keep the chamber away from Washington during the government shutdown.
Reps. Stephanie Bice (R-Okla.), Julie Fedorchak (R-N.D.), and Jay Obernolte (R-Calif.) raised their concerns during a House Republican conference call with Johnson earlier today, according to a source familiar with the conversations. The lawmakers suggested the House should return to session next week after not voting since Sept. 19, the source added.
It came a day after another Republican, Rep. Kevin Kiley (Calif.), posted on X that Johnson should not consider canceling votes for a third week. Rep. ...
