House Republicans Target DC Minors in Crime Bill Passed Tuesday

US House Republicans on Tuesday passed legislation allowing District of Columbia minors as young as 14 to be tried as adults for some violent offenses, as the GOP sharpens it focus on crime following the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The measure, which attracted support from a few Democrats, is one of a series of bills planned this week to address crime in the capital and follows President Donald Trump’s deployment of the National Guard and other federal law enforcement resources to Washington, DC.
