Members of a congressional panel critical to the Trump administration’s plan to supercharge military spending are set to sit down with Pentagon officials this week to discuss the request.

Republicans on the House Budget Committee will meet with officials from the Department of Defense Tuesday night about their funding needs, a Republican familiar with the plans confirmed.

Tuesday marks the first day most House members will be in Washington since President Donald Trump asked Congress to sign off on a $1.5 trillion request for defense spending for the upcoming fiscal year.
