House to Buck Senate With Vote on Short-Term Homeland Stopgap

House Republican leaders are planning a vote on a short-term Homeland Security funding patch to May 22, resisting the Senate-passed compromise package supported by many Democrats.

House leaders’ decision to reject the Senate-passed DHS bill puts them in line with conservatives in their conference and all but guarantees the more than 40-day partial shutdown will drag on further.
