House Moves Toward Starting Funding Package Conference (2)

House members approved a plan to start negotiations with the Senate on a three-bill government-funding package, a small sign of bipartisanship amid the bitter congressional feuding that threatens an Oct. 1 government shutdown.

House members on Wednesday approved by voice vote a motion to go to conference on a measure (H.R. 3944) packaging three smaller fiscal 2026 appropriations bills: Agriculture-FDA, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction-VA. A temporary measure funding the rest of government could be attached.
