House’s 2026 Battleground Map Shaped By 2024’s Closest Districts

The closest House races in 2024 will likely be battlegrounds again in 2026 and are almost evenly split between Democrats and Republicans.

Bloomberg Government’s new analysis of the 20 closest House races in 2024 shows the incumbents the House campaign committees are most likely to target and spend money on in the 2026 cycle.

Democrats won 11 of the 20 contests, including two apiece in California and New York where they ousted Republican incumbents. They’ll probably have to hold those if the want any shot at winning back control of the House.
