Hoyer Backs Maryland Lawmaker, Ex-Aide Boafo For His House Seat

Rep. Steny Hoyer has endorsed a preferred successor in Congress: Maryland state Del. Adrian Boafo, a former political aide to the veteran Democratic lawmaker retiring after 45 years in the House.

“Adrian delivers results. He will continue to do so as the Congressman from Maryland’s Fifth District,” Hoyer said in a statement that Boafo’s campaign released Friday.

Baofo, 31, was a member of the Bowie City Council and was first elected to Maryland’s House of Delegates in 2022. He previously worked for Hoyer as a field director and campaign manager. Boafo also worked briefly for then-Rep. Ruben Kihuen (D-Nev.), who ...
