ICE Funding Fight Emerges as Flashpoint in Texas Senate Race

The fatal shooting of a Minneapolis man by federal agents Saturday is already threatening to roil the Texas Senate campaign.

At a Senate Democratic primary debate on Saturday, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) attacked Immigration and Customs Enforcement as a “rogue organization” that’s “killing people in the middle of the street.” She touted her vote last week against the fiscal 2026 Homeland Security spending bill, which included billions for ICE, and her support for impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
