It would be “idiotic” and “political malpractice” for Republican leaders to block a House vote on preserving expiring health care subsidies, Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) said in an interview Tuesday night, showing the frustration building over an impasse that GOP leaders are struggling to resolve.
“There needs to be an up or down vote. The failure to allow for one is just stupid,” Lawler told Bloomberg Government amid ongoing haggling between swing district Republicans and GOP leadership. He later added, “it’s political malpractice not to put a bill on the floor.”
