Immigration Backers Eye Post-Election Push as Harris Cracks Down

Kamala Harris performed a delicate balancing act on immigration when she toured the US-Mexico border in Arizona last month, her first visit since becoming the Democratic nominee for president.

The vice president first touted her support for the Senate’s bipartisan border legislation that would have cut off asylum access along much of the border when it’s overwhelmed and said she would go even further to reduce illegal border crossings.
