Congressional Republicans who cross President Donald Trump have typically faced swift political consequences. Indiana lawmakers may prove that same dynamic doesn’t hold in statehouses.

Four GOP Indiana state senators running for reelection in the May 5 primary face challengers backed by the White House. They joined Democrats and 17 fellow Republicans to defeat a redistricting measure targeting seats held by US Reps. André Carson (D) and Frank Mrvan (D), an effort designed to give Republicans an advantage in all nine districts.
