JBS Halts Production at Two Brazil Beef Plants as Costs Rise

The world’s largest meatpacker JBS NV is temporarily halting production at two Brazilian beef plants as costs of cattle surge in the country.

The company is suspending operations beginning Monday for 20 days in the plants of Agua Boa and Pedra Preta, in the state of Mato Grosso, according to a person familiar with the move.

Workers were given a furlough, said the person, who didn’t want to be identified as the information isn’t public. The news was first reported by local media The AgriBiz.
