Legislation to curb lawmaker stock trading will get a House vote “soon,” Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told reporters Wednesday, shortly after President Donald Trump called for a ban in his State of the Union address.
Johnson referenced the Stop Insider Trading Act (H.R. 7008), led by House Administration Chairman Bryan Steil (R-Wis.), which would stop members of Congress from trading new stocks but wouldn’t require them to sell their existing ones.
