Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is going to the White House Thursday afternoon to discuss a pathway forward on passing a reconciliation bill, which would fund key border security agencies, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Johnson’s visit comes as House Republicans consider postponing a vote on a package that would allocate money for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection.
The Senate hasn’t released a bill or a debate time regarding reconciliation. Lawmakers are also scheduled to leave Washington on Friday to prepare for Memorial Day weekend events.
