Ex-Rep. Kevin Brady, who chaired the Ways and Means panel during the 2017 tax overhaul, will join the lobbying firm Akin, steering corporate interests through next year’s mega fight as much of the law expires.
The Texas Republican, who spent 26 years on Capitol Hill, will also work on trade and health care policy for the firm whose registered federal clients include the Business Roundtable, OpenAI, RTX Corp., and Nippon Steel Corp.
“There’s an awful lot at stake in 2025,” Brady said during an interview. “Congress has a unique opportunity to not just extend provisions but improve upon them.”
