The House Friday passed GOP-sponsored legislation that would repeal two signature provisions created in the 2022 tax-and-climate law to help reduce greenhouse gas and methane emissions.
The measure (H.R. 1023), sponsored by Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Ala.), would eliminate the fee on oil and gas producers related to the amount of methane they emit, as well as get rid of the greenhouse gas reduction fund, both programs administered through the Environmental Protection Agency. H.R. 1023 incorporates H.R. 1141, which repeals the methane fee.
