Key US Navy Ballistic Submarine, New Frigate Face Years of Delay

Construction of a new ballistic missile submarine and a frigate face significant delays, according to an information paper released by the Navy.

The delivery of the lead Columbia-class submarine—a key weapon in any potential conflict with China—likely will be delayed about 12 to 16 months, according to an information paper obtained by Bloomberg News. The submarines are built by General Dynamics Corp. and HII, formerly known as Huntington Ingalls Industries.
