Kids’ Online Safety, Privacy Measures Pushed for Senate Votes

Senators are ramping up efforts to bring to the floor two stalled, bipartisan bills intended to protect kids online.

Senate Democratic and Republican leaders are seeking to streamline a vote on the Kids Online Safety Act (S.1409), according to the offices of lead sponsors Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.). Democratic leaders also want to push ahead consideration of the Children and Teens’ Online Privacy Protection Act (S.1418), or COPPA 2.0, sponsored by Sens. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.), according to a Senate aide.
