Lawmakers Return Home to Face Voters Amid Budget, Tariff Turmoil

Republican lawmakers are about to pay a price for their much-desired two-week break from Washington — facing concerned constituents at home with questions after the whiplash from recent Trump administration moves.

Although Republicans in both chambers were able to get a budget deal through its first step, now they return to their home states to face looming concerns about the fallout from Trump’s tariffs and his administration’s drastic cuts to the federal government. They’ll also need to explain their support for trillion-dollar budget cuts to often-wary constituents.
