Lawmakers to Watch on Energy and Infrastructure Permitting Talks

Overhauling the permitting process, one of Washington’s wonkier policy debates, remains at the center of very real challenges Americans face right now: rising energy costs, the proliferation of data centers, and the strain of extreme weather on the US electric grid.

Lawmakers have been working for years to enact bipartisan legislation to expedite federal permitting of energy and infrastructure projects, a process that has become lengthy and cumbersome.
