Lawmakers Turn to Trump in Year-End Push to Protect Kids Online

Advocates are pushing House Speaker Mike Johnson for a floor vote this month on new protections for children online, and hoping for President-elect Donald Trump’s help.

It’s part of a last-ditch effort to get the bipartisan Kids Online Safety Act, or KOSA, sent to President Joe Biden’s desk before the end of the 118th Congress. Bill supporters see Trump’s grip on the GOP’s congressional agenda, and his influence with Johnson (R-La.), as a leverage point.
