Progressives expanded their majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court with an election victory Tuesday in a bellwether state that could play an influential role in the November midterms and the 2028 presidential election.
Judge Chris Taylor, the candidate backed by liberals, trounced conservative Maria Lazar by 60% to 40% to win an open seat on the state Supreme Court, according to an unofficial tally from the Associated Press. Both Taylor and Lazar are currently judges on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, the state’s intermediate appellate court.
