Lockheed F-35 Program Funding Cap Is Sought by House Lawmakers

The House Armed Services Committee backed restrictions on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program, seeking to rein in the world’s most expensive weapons program plagued by cost growth and software deficiencies.

The Republican-led panel approved the fiscal 2025 defense authorization bill by a vote of 57-1 late Wednesday. The measure, considered one of the very few must-pass bills in Congress, would set the Lockheed Martin Corp. aircraft on track for combat missions, boost the defense industrial base, and improve US troops’ quality of life from housing to pay.
