Malliotakis Ditches Problem Solvers Caucus After Museum Blowup

GOP Rep. Nicole Malliotakis left the bipartisan, centrist Problem Solvers Caucus after Democrats and a handful of conservative Republicans tanked her long-sought effort to build a women’s history museum on the National Mall, her office confirmed.

Malliotakis (N.Y.) was a vice chair of the group, which includes members of both parties who pride themselves on working across the aisle and seeking common ground on key issues. Her exit comes a day after her Smithsonian bill flamed out with a 204-216 vote on the House floor.
