Meta’s Climate Pledges Questioned Over Louisiana AI Data Center

A key environmental Democratic senator wants answers about the climate impacts of a multi-billion dollar artificial intelligence data center that Meta is building in northeastern Louisiana.

Meta is working on the project with regional utility Entergy, which has requested expedited approval from a state commission for three new combustion-turbine gas plants in the area to help power the data center.

Mark Zuckerberg, the chief executive officer of Meta Platforms Inc., has invested in clean energy initiatives as part of the company’s pledge to reduce emissions and help combat climate change.
