Mexico’s AMLO, Biden Discussed Managing Migrant Flows

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and US President Joe Biden agreed to continue the collaboration between the two countries in order to manage migratory flows in the region, according to a statement from the Mexican government.

  • The presidents also agreed to increase actions to address the structural causes of migration in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to the statement
  • Earlier, Biden announced new measures that will shutter the US-Mexico border to some asylum claims until the level of crossings there fall substantially and raise the threshold for people to stay in the country
