Speaker Says Funding DHS Without ICE Isn’t His ‘Preference’ (1)

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said funding all of the Department of Homeland Security except Immigration and Customs Enforcement is “not my preference” as the rough outline of a spending deal emerges from the Senate.

“We’ve been very resistant to any idea to break them apart,” Johnson told reporters of funding various Homeland Security agencies. The speaker added that he hasn’t gotten the details of the possible agreement senators are considering.
